Too much water can be fatal, warn doctors
The idea that the more water a person consumes, the greater the health benefits, seem to dispute after an incident in Britain. A woman was hospitalized the «King’s College» with urinary tract infection symptoms. She revealed that doctors had increased water consumption, and drinking every half hour almost half a liter of water. However, this caused in the hypothermia body, a condition that can prove even fatal if not treated immediately.
On the occasion of this incident doctors seem now wondering if there is a ‘safe’ threshold for desirable drinking water. As stated by Dr Imran Rafi from the Royal College: « This case shows that even the excessive consumption of water can have significant consequences, and this is something that all doctors should have in mind” . The Public Health Agency in the UK advises people to drink six to eight glasses of water a day.
