Federer beats Nadal and grabs big title in Miami

The Swiss tennis player Roger Federer continues his streak of excellent results in 2017. On Sunday night Danish time he prevailed in Miami Open final by beating Spanish Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-4. Thus the 35-year-old Federer won the season

so far three major tournaments. In January, he won the Australian Open final victory over Nadal – and in March he struck out on top in Indian Wells. It was his fourth victory over the Spaniard in a row; three of them are playing for years. Earlier in his career Nadal has had the lead in their rivalry, and he now leads 23-14 with each other after their now 37 games against each other.

Federer has just lost a battle in 2017 and has delivered a comeback out of the ordinary, after an injury marred the last half of the 2016 season. In Sunday’s final he again dished up with games of high class and a server breakthrough in each set was enough as Nadal never managed to break the Swiss rider. Already in the match’s first party had Nadal the chance to break, but Federer his.

The set was in the first place rich in break opportunities for either side, but Federer was the first to exploit when he took the lead 5-3. Then he served the first set safely home. The second set followed the players onto the score 4-4 before Federer broke key and then served the victory. This is the third time in his career that Federer wins Miami Open, but the first time since 2006.
